OMAHA, NE — For the first time in its history, the Men's College World Series (MCWS) will offer sensory kits for checkout at Charles Schwab Field Omaha, thanks to a new partnership with Autism Action Partnership (AAP). This initiative reflects a shared commitment to ensuring all fans—regardless of sensory needs—can enjoy America's favorite pastime in a welcoming and comfortable environment.
Autism Spectrum Disorder affects 1 in 31 children, and many autistic individuals experience sensory sensitivities that can make large, crowded events overwhelming. By providing sensory kits, the MCWS is helping to remove barriers and create a more inclusive ballpark experience.
Fans attending the 2025 Men's College World Series will be able to check out sensory kits at the Guest Services counter located near Section 113 on the ballpark concourse. Each kit includes items designed to reduce sensory input and support self-regulation, such as noise-canceling headphones, sunglasses, fidgets, a visual timer, and communication supports.
"Autism Action Partnership is proud to team up with the College World Series of Omaha, Inc. to make this exciting Omaha tradition more accessible for everyone," said Justin Dougherty, President & CEO of Autism Action Partnership. "CWS Inc's leadership in inclusion sends a powerful message—not just to autistic fans and their families, but to the entire community."
Through its COMPASS program, AAP works with local organizations and venues to increase autism awareness and inclusion by providing training, consultation, and tools like sensory kits. These efforts help families feel welcomed, supported, and more confident attending public events.
"We're excited to team up with Autism Action Partnership to help make the College World Series a more inclusive and welcoming experience for everyone," said
Amy Hornocker, Executive Director of the College World Series of Omaha, Inc. "Omaha has been home to this incredible championship for 75 years, and making sure every fan feels included is really important to us. We're so thankful to MECA and AAP for their commitment and partnership in bringing this to life."
"We appreciated the opportunity to collaborate with Autism Action Partnership on this effort," said Roger Dixon, President and CEO of the Metropolitan Entertainment & Convention Authority (MECA), which manages Charles Schwab Field Omaha. "Their insight will enhance the fan experience in a thoughtful way that reflects the evolving needs of the community — especially as we think about the future of this event in conjunction with our partners at CWS of Omaha, Inc."
