Specific Trails Include:
West Papio Trail The West Papio Trail may be the most scenic of all the trails. The concrete path winds along the West Papio Creek, through a number of new subdivisions and parks. The trail currently begins at 156th Street and Maple Road.
144th Street Trail This paved trail begins at 144th Street and follows the grade of the street including stretches up and down hills. The trail has been built in segments with the east side of 144th from Standing Bear Lake to Dodge Street mostly complete. The trail continues on the west side from Dodge to West Center Road.
Big Papio Trail A new segment of trail - almost five miles in length - being constructed as part of the channelization of the Big Papio Creek. The trail expansion extends north of West Center Road to West Maple Road and Tranquility Park. The Big Papio Trail currently starts at Towl Park, continues south into Seymour L. Smith Park and connects to the Keystone Trail.
Keystone Trail/Bellevue Loop Trail The Keystone Trail/Bellevue Loop Trail is the longest and busiest recreational trail in the metro area. It is paved and very flat except for its underpasses which allow users to cross all major streets safely. The character of this trail is diverse. Northern portions feature park and residential settings. The heart of the trail travels through industrial areas. Agricultural elements surround southern sections. Currently, the Keystone Trail begins at 87th Street and Templeton Drive.
Elmwood Trail (Park Connector) The Elmwood Park Connector Trail provides access to the Keystone Trail for the Elmwood and Memorial Park users. The trail begins at 72nd and Pacific Streets and continues east of 67th Street.
Field Club Trail The Field Club Tail is a 1.5 mile inner-city trail along an abandoned railroad right-of-way. In addition to railroad tracks cuts, it features deep ravines and thick foliage. The trail begins at 38th and Leavenworth Streets.
Back-To-The-River Trail A new, 11 mile segment of trail scheduled for the Omaha Riverfront will provide the opportunity for recreation within sight of the Missouri River. The trail will stretch from the former Asarco grounds on the south to N.P. Dodge Park on the northern edge of the city. A pedestrian bridge over the mighty Missouri will link Port of Omaha property with Playland Park in Council Bluffs. The existing 3 mile length of trail begins near the South Omaha Bridge Road and follows Gifford Road to the banks of the Missouri, north to the flood wall.
